The first GWO Offshore Wind Power Training Center in Northern Taiwan
The development of offshore wind power in Taiwan continues to make breakthroughs, and it is expected that the cumulative amount of domestic and foreign wind farms that have been completed and connected to the grid will exceed 3GW. The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has estimated that by the end of 2023, domestic offshore wind power will have completed the construction of 2.25GW of wind farms, and this year, taking into account the 900MW of the first phase of the offshore wind farms in the southeastern and southwestern parts of Greater Changhua that have been completed and connected to the grid, the cumulative capacity of the wind farms has been raised to over 3GW. The estimated cumulative capacity of wind farms has increased to more than 3GW.
Tianfeng New Energy's Yunlin offshore wind farm announced that 42 turbines have been successfully connected to the grid, catching up with Wuxu's Southeast and Southwest Changhua Stage 1 offshore wind farm, which was completed and connected to the grid in April, and the CIP wind farm, which was jointly developed by Sinosteel and CIP, which started generating power from its first turbine in June.
The first phase of the Greater Changhua Southeast and Southwest offshore wind farms have been fully connected to the Taipower grid for operation and power generation, making it the largest operating offshore wind farm in the Asia-Pacific region.CIP invested in the Changfang and Xidao offshore wind farms, which were awarded a 600MW grid-connected capacity as early as 2018 in the selection process for offshore wind power by the Bureau of Energy of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the ROC, with a total of 62 Vestas V174-9.6MW wind turbines, and has completed the project since its construction was completed in May. Accelerating the acquisition of the electricity license for the whole merger negotiation.
The first wind turbine of the wind farm has already begun to generate electricity and has been allocated 300MW of capacity. 31 Vestas V174-9.5MW offshore wind turbines are expected to be installed and are targeted to be completed and connected to the grid this year.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) announced the results of the 3-2 wind farm selection this week, and Tianfeng New Energy immediately announced that Yunlin offshore wind farm of Yunlin Energy has completed the installation of 80 monopile foundations and 42 turbines have been successfully connected to the grid for power generation, making it the fourth largest among the wind farms with a capacity of 336MW completed and connected to the grid.
According to Tianfeng New Energy, the Yunlin offshore wind farm, if completed, will have an installed capacity of 640MW and will provide renewable energy to more than 600,000 households in Taiwan each year. So far, the Yunlin wind farm has exceeded 1.4 billion kWh of grid-connected power generation. Taiwan's offshore wind power, with its dramatic ups and downs and twists and turns, has once again broken through to set a new milestone.
